Websites for startups
A site that looks credible from day one
Nobody's heard of you yet, which means your site is doing all the work a reputation would normally do. It has to say what you do clearly and look like a real business, fast.
What your customers are typing into Google
- “is [brand] legit”
- “[brand] reviews”
- “[product] Australia”
- “best [category] Australia”
- “[brand] vs [competitor]”
- “how does [product] work”
- “[product] discount code”
What your website needs to do
One clear sentence about what you do
A new visitor has never heard of you and won't dig for an explanation. The homepage needs to say what you do and who it's for in the first few seconds, before anything clever.
A low-friction way to take the next step
Whether that's a waitlist, an enquiry form or a buy now, the site needs one obvious next step. Too many options, or none at all, both lose people who were ready to act.
Trust signals that don't need a track record
You can't invent client numbers or years in business you don't have yet. But an ABN, a real photo of you or your product, and a proper contact method all signal real business without needing a history.
Room to grow without a rebuild
Adding to your site later shouldn't mean starting again. A simple, well-structured site from the start keeps changes quick, and our monthly plans add new posts and pages when you're ready.
The unglamorous SEO basics done from day one
Search Console, a sitemap, a Google Business Profile if there's any local angle, these take minutes to set up at launch and are painful to fix six months in once you've forgotten what's missing.
Common mistakes to avoid
Jargon instead of a plain explanation
Revolutionising the way people connect with something tells a visitor nothing. A new business especially needs to say plainly what the product or service actually is, because nobody has context yet.
Trying to look bigger than you are
Fake team pages, invented testimonials or stats about growth are risky and often obvious. A smaller, honest site usually builds more trust than one straining to look like an established company.
Launching with nothing for Google to index
A single-page site with no sitemap, no Search Console and no Business Profile gives search engines almost nothing to work with. It's a quiet cost that only shows up months later as why aren't we getting any traffic.
Getting found on Google
A brand new business starts from zero on Google, so the priority at launch is getting the basics right rather than chasing rankings immediately: a submitted sitemap, Search Console set up, and a Google Business Profile if there's any local or service angle at all. From there, a simple blog answering the questions your first customers actually ask tends to do more for organic search over time than paid ads, which get expensive fast for an unproven offer. As revenue starts coming in, moving to a Grow or Dominate plan adds ongoing content and managed ads on top of that foundation, rather than trying to do everything at once before you've even launched.

Questions from startups
We need this live before a launch date, can you move fast?
Yes, the standard build is live within a week of us having what we need from you. If you've got a hard launch date, tell us upfront and we'll flag early if anything's likely to hold things up.
We don't have a logo yet, is that a problem?
Not at all, plenty of startups come to us before that's sorted. We set your business name in a clean typeface as part of the build. We don't do logo design. If you want a full brand later, our sister studio ClickTheory can help.
Can the site grow as we add products or services?
Yes, to a point. The $500 site has up to 5 pages and a news section you can post to yourself. As you grow, our Grow and Dominate plans add regular posts and new pages without rebuilding what's live.
What if we don't have real photos yet?
Send whatever you've got, even phone photos of the product or you at work, and we'll use those over stock images. If you genuinely have nothing yet, we'll talk through the best placeholder approach for launch.
